    In addition to the dismantling and relocation of the lookout tower, crews from Tom Jones Construction Inc. also have begun to prepare the future site of the Hallett, which will be refurbished and moved just off shore to the west of the Sorting Gap Marina (as indicated by the area outlined in the water).

    Kiwanian Irene Laing, left, and Tonia Dolph of Northland Kitchen & Design Consulting drew the winning ticket yesterday morning at International Travel Services for the Kiwanis’ “Trip of the Month” for July. John and Betty DeGagné of Fort Frances will be heading to sunny Orlando—a trip valued at $2,200. Next month’s draw is for a trip to Varadero, Cuba ($4,600).

    Cody Gardiman and Colby McKay took aim during a game of laser tag yesterday in conjunction with Canada Day celebrations at Pither’s Point Park. Other activities there included a volleyball competition, bathtub races, a kids’ 1K run, and 50/50 bingo.

    Mark Kowalchuk, chair of the fundraising campaign for the new library, showed Fort Frances RBC branch manager Heather Johnson some of the conceptual drawings for the planned area for teenagers—to be named the “RBC Teen Zone” following a donation of $25,000 to the project by the RBC Foundation.

Special meeting slated on new Robert Moore

The local public school board will hold a special meeting Monday morning to approve resolutions needed to acquire a building permit in order to proceed with construction of the new Robert Moore School here later this month.
